English SITUATION Seemingly false metal detection Difficulty in scanning near door or windows Area of voltage detected is larger than anticipated PROBABLE CAUSE • Metal items such as jewelry are too close to sensor area • Double or triple studs are common around doors and windows • Static charge may be present on the wall surface SOLUTION • Remove jewelry & re-scan • Detect outer edge instead • Scan a smaller area • Turn off the electrical circuit and identify metal wire instead • Place your free hand on the wall to drain static Electrical voltage not detected in area where it was thought to be • Wires are shielded by metal conduit • Wires are deeper than 3" (76 mm) • Wires are not live • Cannot scan below special wall condition • Review identified metal in scanning window to determine metal conduit • Plug an item into a wall outlet to verify live circuit • Review the Detection through Special Surface Conditions section of the manual Unexpected • Materials or items materials detected on other side of wall • Inspect other side of wall and remove any items from wall surface • Check that the construction type selected most accurately matches the application SITUATION PROBABLE CAUSE SOLUTION Received error • Scanning too fast message: Too fast • Scan slowly Received error message: Lost surface contact • Hand-held wall • Re-map area and repeat scanner lifted off wall scanning surface Cannot get a center line to appear • Wall is thick or dense • Review the Detection through Special Surface Conditions section of the manual Screen freezes or • Software lockup won't turn on • Insert a small object (i.e., paper clip end) into the reset button. The reset button is located on the back surface, under the label. There is a circle on the label indicating the reset location.
