Problems and Solutions This section discusses potential problems and their likely solutions. If you are still having problems after trying the solutions in this section, you may want to try using the data dump mode, a mode that helps advanced users determine the causes of communication problems between the printer and the computer. See the section on the data dump mode at the back of this chapter for more information. Below are some possible problems you may encounter and their solutions. The printer does not print Make sure the printer is turned on and the POWER light is on. If the printer is turned on but the POWER light is not on, check to see that the printer is fully plugged in and that the electrical outlet is also turned on. Make sure the top cover is closed and the ON LINE light is on. If the ON LINE light is not on, press the ON LINE button to put the printer back on line. Make sure the printer is connected securely to the computer. Check both ends of the cable between the printer and the computer. Make sure the printer is not out of paper. (The PAPER OUT light should be off and the tractor arrow on the PAPER SELECT indicator should be green.) Make sure the correct tractor arrow is lit up on the PAPER SELECT indicator. If the wrong tractor is selected, make sure there is paper loaded in standby position on the tractor you want to use, and then press the FRONT/REAR button to switch to that tractor. Below are some possible problems you may encounter and their
solutions.
The printer does not print
Make sure the printer is turned on and the
POWER
light is on.
If the printer is turned on but the
POWER
light is not on, check
to see that the printer is fully plugged in and that the electrical
outlet is also turned on.
Make sure the top cover is closed and the
ON LINE
light is on. If
the
ON LINE
light is not on, press the
ON LINE
button to put the
printer back on line.
Make sure the printer is connected securely to the computer.
Check both ends of the cable between the printer and the
computer.
Make sure the printer is not out of paper. (The
PAPER OUT
light
should be off and the tractor arrow on the
PAPER SELECT
indicator should be green.)
