The FRONT/REAR button lets you select the front or rear tractor when the printer is off line. If you have been using paper loaded on one tractor, first remove the printed output before switching the tractor. When you switch between tractors, the paper already loaded in the printer is fed backward to the standby position, and the paper on the newly selected tractor is loaded. WARNING: Never use the FRONT/REAR button when labels are loaded in the printer. Also, be sure you remove any printed documents before switching tractors. Never feed more than one page backward through the printer. Other control panel features The control panel also gives you access to several special functions. Self By holding down the LINE FEED or FORM FEED button test while you turn on the printer, you can start the printer's self test. The self test prints the current DIP switch settings and the characters in the printer's ROM (Read Only Memory). See the section on running the self test in Chapter 1 for more information. Data dump By holding down both the FORM FEED and LINE FEED buttons while you turn on the printer, you can turn on the data dump mode. This feature prints the codes that are sent to the printer so that advanced users can find the cause of communication problems between the computer and printer. The
