Reverse this procedure to install the RTC battery. When installing the RTC battery, make sure the "+" sign faces up. Top cover NOTE: The top cover spare part kit includes the TouchPad board. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 38), and then remove the following components: a. Memory module/wireless module compartment cover (see Memory module on page 39) b. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 43) c. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 49) NOTE: When replacing the top cover, be sure to remove the following components from the defective top cover and install them on the replacement top cover: ● Power button board (see Power button board on page 57) ● TouchPad button board (see TouchPad button board on page 58) Component replacement procedures 53

Before removing the top cover, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see

), and then remove the following components:
