4 Using and Caring for Your Inkjet Print Cartridges 4 Hold the inkjet print cartridge up to the light to inspect for fibers on the face and edges. If fibers are still present, repeat steps 2 and 3. 5 Repeat steps 1-4 with the tri-color inkjet print cartridge using a clean, moistened cotton swab to avoid any contamination. Clean the Inkjet Print Cartridge Cradle 1 Position yourself at eye level with the printer. 2 Locate the cradle that held the inkjet print cartridges. 3 Using clean, moistened swabs, wipe the underside of each wall of the carriage where fibers may collect and come in contact with the paper. Reinstall the Inkjet Print Cartridges 1 Reinstall the inkjet print cartridges and close the printer's top cover. 2 Reinsert the power cord into the back of the printer. 3 Print a test page. On the Printer Services tab of the HP DeskJet Toolbox, click Print a self-test page. 4 Examine the printout for ink streaking. Note: This procedure should remove all fibers that would cause ink to streak on a printout; however, fibers can be missed. If the printout still shows streaking, repeat the procedure until the test printout is clear and sharp. Hold the inkjet print cartridge up to the light to inspect for fibers on the face

Clean the Inkjet Print Cartridge Cradle

the printer.

Locate the cradle that held the
inkjet print cartridges.

Using clean, moistened swabs,
wipe the underside of each wall of
the carriage where fibers may
collect and come in contact with
the paper. Repeat until no ink
residue is seen on a clean swab.
Reinstall the Inkjet Print Cartridges

Reinstall the inkjet print cartridges and close the printer’s top cover.

Reinsert the power cord into the back of the printer.

Print a test page. On the
Printer Services
tab of the HP DeskJet Toolbox, click
Print a self-test page

Examine the printout for ink streaking.
