3. ANNEX 3.1 Color Reproduction: Theory of Operation Color Reproduction consists of transferring an original image that resides on a substrate onto another substrate (paper or other media), as accurately as possible. With HP Color Copier systems reproduction is done by digitizing the original image with a large format scanner, applying color transformations and image enhancements, and finally sending the data to a large format printer to generate the reproduction of the image. There are five components involved in this process as depicted by the following picture: 1) The original image 2) The image digitizer (large format scanner) 3) The color transformation and image enhancement engine (Touch Screen) 4) The image producer (large format printer) 5) The reproduced or final image 2 Scanner 3 Touch Screen 4 Printer Storage 1 Original 5 Final Image Color Reproduction for the HP Large Format Color Copiers family: cc800ps, 815mfp, 5500mfp and 4200 scanner 26/26
