Before removing the system board, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 26), and then remove the following components: a. Battery (see Battery on page 28) b. Solid-state drive (see Solid-state drive on page 29) c. WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 31) d. Power connector bracket (see Power connector cable on page 36) e. Fans (see Fan on page 37) NOTE: When replacing the system board, be sure that the heat sink is removed from the defective system board and installed on the replacement system board. See see Heat sink on page 43 for heat sink removal and replacement instructions. Remove the system board: 1. Release the adhesive support strip (1) that secures the display panel cable to the system board. 2. Disconnect the display panel cable (2) from the system board. 3. Disconnect the power connector cable (3) from the system board. 4. Release the ZIF connector (4) to which the fingerprint reader board cable is attached, and then disconnect the fingerprint reader board cable from the system board. 40 Chapter 5 Removal and replacement procedures

Before removing the system board, follow these steps:
1.

the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is

2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.

NOTE:
When replacing the system board, be sure that the heat sink is removed from the defective system
board and installed on the replacement system board. See see
Heat sink
on page
43
for heat sink removal
and replacement instructions.
Remove the system board:
1.
Release the adhesive support strip
(1)
that secures the display panel cable to the system board.
2.
Disconnect the display panel cable
(2)
from the system board.
3.
Disconnect the power connector cable
(3)
from the system board.
4.
Release the ZIF connector
(4)
to which the
fingerprint
reader board cable is attached, and then
disconnect the
fingerprint
reader board cable from the system board.
