Description For use only on computer models with USB 3.0 capability For use only on computer models with USB 2.0 capability Spare part number 690000-001 665935-001 Before removing the top cover, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 39). 5. Remove the subwoofer (see Subwoofer on page 41). 6. Remove the hard drive (see Hard drive on page 51). When replacing the top cover, be sure that the keyboard and keyboard bracket (see Keyboard on page 59) are removed from the defective top cover and installed on the replacement top cover. Remove the top cover: 1. Before removing the top cover, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn

5.
Remove the subwoofer (see

6.
Remove the hard drive (see
Hard drive

).
When replacing the top cover, be sure that the keyboard and keyboard bracket (see
Keyboard
on page
59
) are removed from the defective top cover and installed on the replacement top cover.
Remove the top cover:
1.
Release the ZIF connector to which the integrated volume dial cable
(1)
is attached, and then
disconnect the cable from the system board.
