Remove the front speakers: 1. Turn the computer, with the front edge toward you. 2. Remove 4 screws (1). 3. Disengage the cables, and then remove the front speakers (2). Reverse this procedure to install the speakers. Optical drive connector board NOTE: The optical drive connector board and cable are included in the optical drive spare part kit. See x for optical drive spare part kit information. Before removing the optical drive connector board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 46). 5. Remove the service cover (see Service cover on page 47). 6. Remove the hard drive (see Hard drive on page 48). Component replacement procedures 69

Remove the front speakers:
1.
Turn the computer, with the front edge toward you.

Remove 4 screws

NOTE:
The optical drive connector board and cable are included in the optical drive spare part kit.

Before removing the optical drive connector board, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
