Before removing the system board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 34), and then remove the following components: a. Service door (see Service door on page 35) b. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 36) c. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 39) d. WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 43) e. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 46) f. Top cover (see Top cover on page 49) When replacing the system board, be sure that the following components are removed from the defective system board and installed on the replacement system board: ● Memory module (see Memory module on page 41 ● RTC battery (see RTC battery on page 42 ● Fan/heat sink assembly (see Fan/heat sink assembly on page 59) ● Processor (see Processor on page 64) Component replacement procedures 57
