Blank windows when installing CMC on HPUX11 - sizing guide

Page 15 highlights

• Disk RAID Consistency - Identifies instances where storage systems in a cluster are configured with different RAID levels. Mixed RAID levels in clusters are allowed to support a variety of administrative tasks. However, using the same RAID settings on all storage systems in a cluster ensures optimum availability and performance. For more information, see the chapter Storage Configuration: Disk RAID and Disk Management in the HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN Solution user guide. • Network Bond Consistency - Identifies instances where storage systems in a cluster are configured with different network bond types. Inconsistent network bonds in storage systems in the same cluster may cause inconsistent traffic across NICs, and unexpected failover behavior depending on which system in the cluster fails. For more information, see the chapter Managing the Network in the HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN Solution user guide. • Network Flow Control Consistency - Identifies instances where the network flow control settings are configured differently in the storage systems in a cluster. Inconsistent network flow control settings in storage systems in the same cluster may impact the connectivity between the systems. For more information, see the chapter Managing the Network in the HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN Solution user guide. • Network Frame Size Consistency - Identifies instances where the network frame size is configured differently on storage systems in a cluster. Inconsistent network frame size may impact data traffic and replication in the cluster. For more information, see the chapter Managing the Network in the HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN Solution user guide. Blank windows when installing CMC on HPUX11 If you experience blank windows during an install of the CMC and you are using the HPUX Window Manager (SXM/CDE), check the default font. If it is white, change it to black and begin the installer again. CMC install and uninstall wizards contain special characters such as question marks The following unsupported configurations may result in the CMC install and/or uninstall wizards to display special characters instead of the expected text. • System OS language is set to a different language than the system locale language, for example if the OS is set to Chinese and the system locale is set to Japanese. • The system locale is set to an unsupported language such as Spanish. SNMP clients must be configured to use UTF-8 encoding to get multi-byte characters CHAP name in multi-byte characters requires server to be configured with the IQN name You must create the server first and then edit that server to add the CHAP name. 1. Create a new server and select CHAP not required and enter the IQN. 2. Next, select CHAP required and enter the CHAP information. 3. Click OK. The server is created with both CHAP and the IQN information. You can also edit an existing server to add the IQN if necessary. 1. Log off the target in the iSCSI initiator. Disk RAID Consistency
Identifies instances where storage systems in a cluster are configured
with different RAID levels. Mixed RAID levels in clusters are allowed to support a variety of admin-
istrative tasks. However, using the same RAID settings on all storage systems in a cluster ensures
optimum availability and performance. For more information, see the chapter
Storage Configuration:
Disk RAID and Disk Management
in the HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN Solution user guide.
Network Bond Consistency
Identifies instances where storage systems in a cluster are configured
with different network bond types. Inconsistent network bonds in storage systems in the same
cluster may cause inconsistent traffic across NICs, and unexpected failover behavior depending
on which system in the cluster fails. For more information, see the chapter
Managing the Network
in the HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN Solution user guide.
Network Flow Control Consistency
Identifies instances where the network flow control settings
are configured differently in the storage systems in a cluster. Inconsistent network flow control
settings in storage systems in the same cluster may impact the connectivity between the systems.
For more information, see the chapter
Managing the Network
in the HP StorageWorks P4000
SAN Solution user guide.
Network Frame Size Consistency
Identifies instances where the network frame size is configured
differently on storage systems in a cluster. Inconsistent network frame size may impact data traffic
and replication in the cluster. For more information, see the chapter
Managing the Network
in the
HP StorageWorks P4000 SAN Solution user guide.
Blank windows when installing CMC on HPUX11
If you experience blank windows during an install of the CMC and you are using the HPUX Window
Manager (SXM/CDE), check the default font. If it is white, change it to black and begin the installer
again.
CMC install and uninstall wizards contain special characters such as question
marks
The following unsupported configurations may result in the CMC install and/or uninstall wizards to
display special characters instead of the expected text.
System OS language is set to a different language than the system locale language, for example
if the OS is set to Chinese and the system locale is set to Japanese.
The system locale is set to an unsupported language such as Spanish.
SNMP clients must be configured to use UTF-8 encoding to get multi-byte
characters
CHAP name in multi-byte characters requires server to be configured with the
IQN name
You must create the server first and then edit that server to add the CHAP name.
1.
Create a new server and select
CHAP not required
and enter the IQN.
2.
Next, select
CHAP required
and enter the CHAP information.
3.
Click
OK
. The server is created with both CHAP and the IQN information.
You can also edit an existing server to add the IQN if necessary.
1.
Log off the target in the iSCSI initiator.
