6. Remove the system board (2) by sliding it up and to the right at an angle. Reverse this procedure to install the system board. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 37), and then remove the following components: a. Battery (see Battery on page 39) b. Fan (see Fan on page 50) c. System board (see System board on page 52) Remove the heat sink: NOTE: Steps 1 and 2 apply to computer models equipped with a graphics subsystem with discrete memory. See Steps 3 and 4 for heat sink removal information for computer models equipped with a graphics subsystem with UMA memory. 1.
