Removal and replacement procedures Heat sink ✎ The heat sink spare part kit includes replacement thermal material. Description For use only with HP Compaq 6545b and 6445b computer models For use only with HP Compaq 6540b and 6440b computer models equipped with discrete graphics subsystem memory For use only with HP Compaq 6540b and 6440b computer models equipped with UMA graphics subsystem memory Spare part number 583265-001 593879-001 593878-001 Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see "Battery" on page 4-7). 5. Remove the following components: a. Keyboard (see "Keyboard" on page 4-23) b. Switch cover (see "Switch cover" on page 4-30) c.
