The bridge contains the 312 print heads, 52 per color. All print heads are mounted on the ink bar and arranged in arrays. Each array contains 8 print heads which are connected to their PIC board. Each print head (in addition to the ink supply) includes an electronic package and a 26-pin male connector, as shown on Figure 2-16 on page 22. A set of registration pins ensures accurate positioning of print head modules with respect to each other and to the plate on which they are mounted. Caution To avoid curing of the ink while the bridge is in vertical position (during maintenance), the following guidelines are recommended: • Do not position a light source directly above the printing bridge. If there is one directly above the printer, it should be turned off while the bridge is in vertical position for more than a few seconds. • The power density of a light source above the bridge should not exceed 3mW/cm2. • Sunlight is a real risk in case there is an open window that allows direct sunlight into the room and towards the exposed bridge.
