3 Troubleshooting and Repair Replacing the System Board Replacing the System Board When replacing the system board, the PC's serial number must be recorded in the new system board ROM. This is done using the PHLASH utility, provided on diskette with the replacement system board. To record the serial number, type the command: PHLASH /ds:"xxxxxxxxxx" /mode=1 where xxxxxxxxxx is the serial number of the PC. (The serial number is found on the back of the PC's box.) HP Vectra Diagnostic Utility No diagnostic utility was available for the Vectra VE 5/xx series 2 PC at the time of printing. A diagnostic utility for this PC range will be available in early 1996 in the HP BBS Library. 39

Replacing the System Board
When replacing the system board, the PC’s serial number must be recorded
in the new system board ROM. This is done using the PHLASH utility,
provided on diskette with the replacement system board.
