3 BIOS Overview Award BIOS Award BIOS VEi 8 PCs contain an Award BIOS (Basic Input Output System). The BIOS provides an interface between the computer hardware and the operating system. The System ROM contains the POST (power-on selftest) routines, and the BIOS: the System BIOS, video BIOS and low option ROM. The system BIOS is identified by the version number HW.27.xx. The latest BIOS version for your PC and instructions for updating the BIOS can be downloaded from the HP support Web site at: www.hp.com/go/vectrasupport. This section covers: • The BIOS Setup program • Power saving • BIOS addresses. Using the HP Setup Program The Setup program enables you to modify or view the PC's configuration settings. NOTE The Setup program and on-screen BIOS error messages are available only in English. Press F2 to run the Setup program, while the initial "Hewlett-Packard" logo is displayed immediately after restarting the PC. The band along the top of the Setup screen offers five menus: Main, Advanced, Security, Boot, Power and Exit. These are selected using the left and right arrow keys. To access online help, where available, press the Enter key. 30

VEi 8 PCs contain an Award BIOS (Basic Input Output System). The
BIOS provides an interface between the computer hardware and the
