3 BIOS Overview Award BIOS • Shadow Options. Enable shadowing for non Plug-and-Play ISA option ROMs to improve performance. Note that some option ROMs cannot be shadowed. • PCI Configuration. Enable the selected PCI device as a PCI bus Master. • PCI/PNP ISA IRQ Resource Exclusion. Reserves interrupts for legacy ISA devices to prevent conflict with PCI/PnP devices. • I/O Device Configuration. Used for peripheral configuration. Security The Security Menu contains the following items: • Set Supervisor Password. This password controls access to the Setup utility. It can also be used to start the computer. • Set User Password. This password can only be set once a Supervisor Password has been set. The User Password controls access to the system at boot. The User should only be able to modify the date, time and User Password in Setup but is able to view Setup. • Password on Boot. Enable password entry on boot. Power Menu The Security Menu contains the following items: • General Power Settings • Auto Suspend Timeout. Set the length of time before your PC goes into a lower power consumption mode when left inactive. If your PC is configured for ACPI, set this option in the operating system. • HDD Power Down. Set the length of time before your hard drive powers down when left inactive. • State after a Power Failure. determines the state your PC returns to after a power failure. • Resume Events. 33
