7.7 Acoustics The upper limit criteria of the octave sound power levels are given in Bels relative to one picowatt and are shown in the following table. The sound power emission levels are measured in accordance with ISO7779. Table 57: Sound power levels Mode Typical/Max Idle Operating Performance seek mode Quiet seek 3.1 / 3.5 3.5 / 3.8 3.3 / 3.6 Table 58: Sound power levels Mode definitions • Idle mode: The drive is powered on, disks spinning, track following, unit is ready to receive and respond to control line commands. • Operating mode: Continuous random cylinder selection and seek operation of the actuator with a dwell time at each cylinder. The seek rate for the drive is calculated with the following formula: • Dwell time = 0.5 x 60/RPM • Seek rate = 0.4 / (average seek time + dwell time) 7.8 Identification labels The following labels are affixed to every drive: • A label containing the Hitachi logo, the Hitachi Global Storage Technologies part number and the statement " Made by Hitachi Global Storage Technologies Inc." or Hitachi Global Storage Technologies approved equivalent. • A label containing the drive model number, the manufacturing date code, the formatted capacity, the place of manufacture, UL/CSA/TUV/CE/C-Tick mark logos • A bar code label containing the drive serial number • A label containing jumper pin description • A user designed label per agreement The above labels may be integrated with other labels Deskstar 7K400 Hard Disk Drive Specification 61
