Replacing a Cooling Fan (SR1530HAHLX) Caution: The fans are NOT hot swappable. Before removing or replacing a fan, you must first take the server out of service, turn off all peripheral devices connected to the system, turn off the system by pressing the power button, and unplug the AC power cord from the system or wall outlet. Note: The fans that are integrated into the power supply cannot be replaced separately. If one of the fans in the power supply fails, the power supply must be replaced. The blower fans can be individually replaced if one of them fails. If a fan in the power supply fails, the power supply must be replaced. Use the steps below to replace a system blower fan or the PCI cooling fan. Replacing the System Blower Fans (SR1530HAHLX) 1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See "Safety Information" on page iii. 2. Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable. 3. Remove the server system cover. For instructions, see "Removing the Server System Cover". 4. Remove the processor air duct. For instructions, see "Removing the Processor Air Duct" on page 31 5. Remove the two screws that hold the fan in place. Save these screws. You will re- install them later. 6. Remove the processor air duct (see letter "A" in the figure below). 7. Disconnect the fan cable from the server board (see letter "B" in the figure below). 8. Lift the fan from the system (see letter "C" in the figure below). B A C AF001633 Figure 84. Replacing a Cooling Fan (SR1530HAHLX)
Caution:
The fans are NOT hot swappable. Before removing or replacing a fan, you must first take
the server out of service, turn off all peripheral devices connected to the system, turn off
the system by pressing the power button, and unplug the AC power cord from the system
or wall outlet.
Note:
The fans that are integrated into the power supply cannot be replaced separately. If one of
the fans in the power supply fails, the power supply must be replaced.
The blower fans can be individually replaced if one of them fails. If a fan in the power
supply fails, the power supply must be replaced. Use the steps below to replace a system
blower fan or the PCI cooling fan.
Replacing the System Blower Fans (SR1530HAHLX)
1.
Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See
“Safety
Information” on page iii

2.
Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable.
3.
Remove the server system cover. For instructions, see
“Removing the Server
System Cover”
.
4.
Remove the processor air duct. For instructions, see
“Removing the Processor Air
Duct” on page 31
5.
Remove the two screws that hold the fan in place. Save these screws. You will re-
install them later.
6.
Remove the processor air duct (see letter “A” in the figure below).
7.
Disconnect the fan cable from the server board (see letter “B” in the figure below).
8.
Lift the fan from the system (see letter “C” in the figure below).
