Chapter 2 - About VT/ANSI Programming National Replacement Character Sets The computer supports the 7-bit national replacement character (NRC) sets for European languages. The NRC sets are similar to the 7-bit ASCII set, except for a few characters. You designate the character sets as hard using escape sequence formats. This table lists characters in each NRC set that are different from the ASCII set. The computer does not support "¾" (40 hexadecimal) in the Dutch NRC set. It does not support designating soft (down-line loadable) character sets. Designating Hard Character Sets Designate hard character sets using the escape sequence format in the following table.
