POST error codes POST error messages appear when, during startup, POST finds problems with the hardware or a change in the hardware configuration. POST error messages are 3-, 4-, 5-, 8-, or 12-character alphanumeric messages. Beep codes Beep codes are a series of tones in sets of two or three that sound when there are POST errors.
