System BIOS Setup CPU L1 & L2 Cache The item allows you to turn on or off CPU's internal (L1) and external (L2) cache. Settings: Enabled, Disabled. CPU Hyper-Threading The Intel® Xeon™ processor uses Hyper-Threading technology to increase transaction rates and reduces end-user response times. The technology treats the two cores inside the processor as two logical processors that can execute instructions simultaneously. In this way, the system performance is highly improved. If you disable the function, the processor will use only one core to execute the instructions. Settings: Enabled, Disabled. First/Second/Third Boot Device The items allow you to set the sequence of boot devices where BIOS attempts to load the disk operating system. The settings are: Floppy The system will boot from floppy drive. LS120 The system will boot from LS-120 drive. HDD-0 The system will boot from the first HDD. SCSI The system will boot from the SCSI. CDROM The system will boot from the CD-ROM. HDD-1 The system will boot from the second HDD. HDD-2 The system will boot from the third HDD. HDD-3 The system will boot from the fourth HDD. ZIP100 The system will boot from ATAPI ZIP drive. LAN The system will boot from the onboard 10/100 Network drive. Disabled Disable this sequence. Boot Other Device Setting the option to Enabled allows the system to try to boot from other device if the system fails to boot from the 1st/2nd/3rd boot device. Swap Floppy Drive Setting to Enabled will swap floppy drives A: and B:. Boot Up Floppy Seek Setting to Enabled will make BIOS seek floppy drive A: before booting the system. Settings: Disabled, Enabled. 3-9
