Warning: Do not hold the device near your ear when the loudspeaker is in use, because the volume may be extremely loud. ■ Keypad lock (keyguard) To lock the keypad when the slide is closed, select Menu > Settings > Phone sett. > General > Slide handling > Keyguard activation > On when closing slide. See "Slide handling," p. 73. When the keypad is locked and the main display light is off, to activate the main display light, open the slide. Opening the slide also unlocks the keypad. To unlock the keypad when the slide is closed, select Unlock and OK within 1.5 seconds. Also opening the main camera lens cover unlocks the keypad. When the device or keypad is locked, calls may be possible to the official emergency number programmed into your device. ■ Access codes Lock code The lock code (5 digits) helps to protect your device against unauthorized use. The preset code is 12345. Change the code, and keep the new code secret and in a safe place separate from your device. To change the code and to set the device to request the code, see "Security," p. 74. If you enter an incorrect lock code five times in succession, the device ignores further entries of the code. Wait for 5 minutes, and enter the code again. When the device or keypad is locked, calls may be possible to the official emergency number programmed into your device. PIN codes The personal identification number (PIN) code and the universal personal identification number (UPIN) code (4 to 8 digits) help to protect your SIM card against unauthorized use. See "Security," p. 74. The PIN code is usually supplied with the SIM card. The PIN2 code (4 to 8 digits) may be supplied with the SIM card and is required for some functions. 18
