Exposure compensation This function allows you to make fine changes to the exposure setting. You can adjust the exposure in the range of ±2.0 EV in 1/3 EV steps. When the setting is changed, you can check the result on the monitor. Mode dial 1 Press bd to select a setting. • Adjust toward +: Press d to adjust up to +2.0 EV in 1/3 EV steps. • Adjust toward -: Press b to adjust up to -2.0 EV in 1/3 EV steps. bd buttons 4 Advanced shooting functions TIPS • Often bright subjects (such as snow) will turn out darker than their natural colors. Adjusting toward + makes these subjects closer to their real shades. For the same reason, adjust toward - when shooting dark subjects. • In some situations, you may get better results when the exposure that the camera sets is compensated (adjusted) manually. Note • If the flash is used, the image brightness (exposure) may differ from the intended brightness. • Exposure compensation cannot correct the image if the surroundings of the subject are extremely bright or dark. 59
