Various settings Setting the sound quality 1. Press the TONE/BAL button repeatedly to select the setting you want to adjust. The following characters can be used. á â 2. Press the direction ( / ) buttons to adjust the setting. ∫ Bass Adjusts the bass level. j3 to i3 (default setting: 0) ∫ Treble Adjusts the treble level. j3 to i3 (default setting: 0) ∫ Balance Adjusts the audio output balance between the left and right speakers. L7 to R7 (default setting: 0) ∫ PM.Bass (Phase Matching Bass) Suppresses phase shift in the midrange to enhance smooth and powerful bass sound. On (default setting) Off 0 "BASS" appears on the display when "On" is selected. 0 "Direct" is disabled when "On" is selected. ∫ Direct When the Direct function is on, the tone controls are bypassed, so you can enjoy a pure sound. On Off (default setting) 0 "DIRECT" appears on the display when "On" is selected. 0 "Bass", "Treble" and "PM.Bass" are disabled when "On" is selected. Inputting characters Follow these procedures to input characters when using the "NET Setting" and "My Favorites" menus, for example. 1. Use the direction ( / / / ) buttons to select a character or symbol and press the ENTER button. Repeat this procedure to input more. 0 Shift*: Changes the characters shown. (a  b) 0 Space: Inputs a blank space that is one character wide. (It is displayed as SP in some cases.) 0 I (left) / J (right): Moves the cursor in the text input area. 0 BS (backspace)**: Deletes characters to the left of the cursor. Move the cursor left. 0 aä: When this is displayed, you can select it to change the characters shown to umlaut characters. * You can also change them by pressing the [>10] button. ** You can press the CLEAR button to delete all the input characters at once. 2. After completing input, use the direction ( / / / ) buttons to select "OK" and press the ENTER button. Sleep timer With the sleep timer, you can set the unit so that it automatically turns off after a specified period. 1. Press the SLEEP button repeatedly to select the time. 0 With the SLEEP button, you can set the sleep time from 90 to 10 minutes in 10 minute increments. The setting is complete 5 seconds after you have displayed the desired time. 0 When the sleep timer has been set, "SLEEP" appears on the display. ∫ Checking the remaining time: If you press the SLEEP button, the remaining time until the unit will be put into standby mode appears. ∫ To cancel the sleep timer: press the SLEEP button repeatedly until "SLEEP" disappears. 29

Setting the sound quality

With the sleep timer, you can set the unit so that it

Press the SLEEP button repeatedly to select the time.

With the SLEEP button, you can set the sleep time
from 90 to 10 minutes in 10 minute increments.
The setting is complete 5 seconds after you have
displayed the desired time.

When the sleep timer has been set, “SLEEP”
appears on the display.
Checking the remaining time:
If you press the
SLEEP button, the remaining time until the unit will be put
into standby mode appears.
To cancel the sleep timer:
press the SLEEP button
repeatedly until “SLEEP” disappears.
