Basic ∫ About the flash Flash mode is set to [Œ] when the flash is closed, and [ ] (AUTO) when it is open. When the flash is open, the camera automatically sets [ ], [ ] (AUTO/Red-Eye Reduction), [ ], or [ ] to match the type of subject and brightness. Note • Open the flash when the flash is to be used. (P84) • When [ ] or [ ] is set, Digital Red-Eye Correction is enabled. • Shutter speed will be slower during [ ] or [ ]. ∫ Functions that work automatically and menu options which are disabled The following functions are performed automatically to allow the camera to make the optimal settings. - Scene Detection/Backlight Compensation/Face Detection/Auto White Balance/Intelligent ISO sensitivity control/[Red-Eye Removal]/[i.Resolution]/[i.Dynamic]/[Long Shtr NR]/[Shading Comp.]/ [Quick AF]/[AF Assist Lamp] Because the camera makes the optimal settings automatically, the following menus are disabled. Menu [Rec] [Motion Picture] [Custom Menu] Item Items other than [Standard] and [Monochrome] in [Photo Style]/[Metering Mode]/[HDR]/[i.Dynamic]/[Flash]/[Red-Eye Removal]/[Flash Synchro]/ [Flash Adjust.]/[i.Resolution]/[ISO Limit Set]/[ISO Increments]/[Long Shtr NR]/[Shading Comp.]/[Digital Zoom] Items other than [Standard] and [Monochrome] in [Photo Style]/[Picture Mode]/[Metering Mode]/[i.Dynamic]/[i.Resolution]/[Digital Zoom]/[Flkr Decrease] [Cust.Set Mem.]/[Expo.Meter]/[AF/AE Lock]/[AF/AE Lock Hold]/[Quick AF]/[Eye Sensor AF]/[Direct Focus Area]/[Shutter AF]/[AF Assist Lamp]/ [AF+MF] • For the setting method of the menu, refer to P64. Note • The Backlight Compensation - When there is a backlight, the subject appears darker and the camera will automatically attempt to correct it by increasing the brightness of the picture. In Intelligent Auto Mode, backlight compensation works automatically. - 44 -
