Useful Information Troubleshooting If you still have difficulties after following the instructions in this section, disconnect the base unit's AC adaptor, then reconnect the base unit's AC adaptor. Remove the batteries from the handset, and then insert them into the handset again. If the base unit batteries for power backup are installed, remove the batteries from the base unit, and then insert them into the base unit again. General use Problem The handset does not turn on even after installing charged batteries. The unit does not work. I cannot hear a dial tone. The indicator on the handset or base unit flashes slowly. The base unit beeps. The unit does not work during a power failure. Cause/solution R Place the handset on the base unit or charger to turn on the handset. R Make sure the batteries are installed correctly (page 13). R Fully charge the batteries (page 12). R Check the connections (page 12). R Unplug the base unit's AC adaptor to reset the unit. Reconnect the adaptor and try again. R The handset has not been registered to the base unit. Register the handset (page 49). R The base unit's AC adaptor or telephone line cord is not connected. Check the connections. R Disconnect the base unit from the telephone line and connect the line to a known working telephone. If the working telephone operates properly, contact our service personnel to have the unit repaired. If the working telephone does not operate properly, contact your phone service provider. R New messages have been recorded. Listen to the new messages (page 55). R New voicemail messages have been recorded. Listen to the new voicemail messages (page 61). R New messages have been recorded. Listen to the new messages (page 55). R The batteries inserted in the base unit are depleted. You can insert 2 alkaline batteries into the base unit to provide backup power. If you still have difficulties after following the instructions in this section, disconnect the base unit’s
AC adaptor, then reconnect the base unit’s AC adaptor. Remove the batteries from the handset,
and then insert them into the handset again.
If the base unit batteries for power backup are installed, remove the batteries from the base unit,
and then insert them into the base unit again.
