Controls and displays 04 Remote control STEREO/DIRECT (page 40) Switches the receiver into STEREO mode if it was in a different listening mode or toggles between DIRECT 9 and STEREO. 10 1 4 SYSTEM SETUP 11 Use to display the System Setup menu (page 71). Also 1 used to display a menu when controlling other 2 12 components (such as a DVD player or TV), or as the TUNER EDIT button when using the tuner. 3 13 5 AUDIO Use to switch the audio tracks of a DVD when a DVD player is selected as the input source. 14 6 Command buttons for other components Use these buttons to control the component you selected 4 15 with the MULTI CONTROL buttons. They are available 16 once you've programmed the remote to control the appropriate component (for example, your TV or DVD 5 player). See Controlling other equipment on page 53 for 17 more on this. 6 7 Number buttons The operation of these buttons depends on whether the remote control has been set to the RECEIVER or MULTI CONTROL setting (see Controlling other equipment on 7 page 53 for more on this). When RECEIVER is selected, you'll be able to select the following: 8 DIMMER (page 63) 18 Use to adjust the brightness of the front panel 19 display. LOUDNESS (page 44) Press to switch Loudness on/off. TONE (page 44) Press to switch the tone controls on or off (bypass). 1 RECEIVER (STANDBY/ON) Press to switch the receiver on or into standby. 2 MULTI CONTROL buttons These buttons are the basic controls that switch the mode of the receiver and the remote control, which allows you to control your other components. TV CONT Press so that the remote control can operate the TV control commands. 3 Listening mode buttons (page 37) MOVIE / MUSIC Press to select the surround listening mode you want (see Listening in surround sound on page 37). BASS/TREBLE (page 44) Use to select whether the bass or treble will be adjusted. +/- Use to adjust the sound delay, the tone, effect and channel levels, as well as to change Dolby Pro Logic II / Dolby Pro Logic IIx Music parameter settings. EFFECT/CH SEL Press repeatedly to select a channel, then use -/+ to adjust the level (see Tip on page 52). Also selects the EFFECT mode, Dolby Pro Logic II / Dolby Pro Logic IIx Music parameters (see page 39) and the sound delay setting (see page 62). You can then use the + and - buttons to make these adjustments. After selecting a MOVIE or MUSIC listening mode above, use these to select the options available. ENTER Use to confirm your selection.
