Format Use this function if you want to delete all files completely or to correct problems on the storage media. 1. Touch the Menu ( ) tab Other setting ( ) "Format." 2. Touch the desired submenu item. (HMX-S15/S16 only) • A message appears asking for your confirmation. 3. Touch the "Yes" "Yes." • The format is executed with a message. 4. Also, be sure to use the provided AC power adapter, as the storage media may be corrupted if the battery becomes exhausted during formatting. • If the storage media becomes corrupted, format it again. • Do not format the storage media on a PC or other device. Make sure to format the storage media on this camcorder. • A memory card with the protection tab set to lock cannot be formatted. page 33 • If there is no storage media inserted, it can not be selected and its name will be dimmed on the menu. This numbering scheme is very useful when you want to manage your files on a computer. 97
