EVEN FEED / WALKING FOOT The Even Feed / Walking Foot has its own set of feed dogs that work in conjunction with the sewing machine's feeding system to aid the movement of the fabric. This is important when sewing several layers of fabric, especially when quilting. This presser foot is also great for matching plaids or stripes and sewing fabrics with nap or pile, to keep them from shifting. 1. Loosen the presser bar screw, then remove the presser bar screw, presser foot holder and foot. 2. Place the Even Feed / Walking Foot onto the presser bar, PDNLQJVXUHWKHEDU¿WVRYHUWKHQHHGOHEDU 3. Replace the presser bar screw. Once it is correctly seated onto the presser bar, secure it in place using a screwdriver. 4. To sew seams in plaid, pile or napped fabrics, place two pieces of the fabric, right sides together, under the presser foot. 5. Select straight stitch, with a medium stitch length setting. Lower the presser foot, then sew the seam from top to bottom. 7R VHZ TXLOW OD\HUV ¿UVW VHFXUH WKH WRS IDEULF EDWWLQJ DQG backing fabric together with pins or basting. Place all layers of fabric together under the presser foot. Lower the presser foot, then sew the layers together. Note: If desired, lines can be drawn onto the fabric using a fabric marking pen/pencil and ruler as guides for stitching. OPEN TOE FOOT The Open Toe Foot provides a more visible view of the area that you will be stitching. Because of its open area at the front, you can see markings much more easily. 1. Set machine to desired stitch. Attach the Open Toe Foot. 2. With a marking pencil or chalk, trace the outline for your design or pattern on the right side of the garment. Hint: Use a fabric marker that can be removed easily in case the stitching does not cover it completely. 3. Sew, following the outline you have traced onto your fabric. Any stitch (except buttonholes) may be used with this foot. 78
