Troubleshooting Troubleshooting If you run into any problems using your camcorder, use the following table to troubleshoot the problem. If the problem persists, disconnect the power source and contact your Sony dealer. • Overall operations/Easy Handycam/ Remote Commander 79 • Batteries/Power sources 80 • LCD screen/viewfinder 80 • Cassette tapes/"Memory Stick Duo".....81 • Recording 82 • Playback 84 • Playing back on TV 85 • Dubbing/Editing/Connecting to other devices 85 • Connecting to a computer 86 • Functions that cannot be used together 86 Overall operations/Easy Handycam/Remote Commander The power does not turn on. • Attach a charged battery pack to the camcorder (p. 14). • Use the AC Adaptor to connect to a wall outlet (p. 14). The camcorder does not operate even when the power is set to on. • Disconnect the AC Adaptor from the wall outlet or remove the battery pack, then reconnect it after about 1 minute. • Press the RESET button (p. 106) using a sharp-pointed object (If you press the RESET button, all settings are reset, except Personal Menu items). Buttons do not work. • During Easy Handycam operation, not all buttons are functional (p. 23). Settings change during Easy Handycam operation. • During Easy Handycam operation, the settings of the functions that are not displayed on the screen return to their defaults (p. 23, 41). The menu item settings have changed unexpectedly. • The following settings return to the default settings automatically when you set the POWER switch to OFF (CHG) for more than 12 hours. - BACK LIGHT - [SCENE SELECT] - [SPOT METER] - [EXPOSURE] - [WHITE BAL.] - [SHUTTR SPEED] - [SPOT FOCUS] - [FOCUS] - [ AUDIO MIX] of [DV SET] - [MIC LEVEL] (HDR-HC7) The camcorder gets warm. • The camcorder may get warmer while you use it. This is not a malfunction. The supplied Remote Commander does not function. • Set [REMOTE CTRL] to [ON] (p. 61). • Remove any obstructions between the Remote Commander and the remote sensor. • Keep strong light sources, such as sunlight or overhead lighting, away from the remote sensor, otherwise the Remote Commander may not function properly. • Insert a fresh battery in the compartment with its +/- terminals matching those of the compartment (p. 108). Another VCR malfunctions when you use the supplied Remote Commander. • Select a commander mode other than VTR 2 for your VCR. Continued , 79 Troubleshooting
