Table of Contents Index 123 Troubleshooting Charging You cannot charge the battery by connecting the IC recorder to your computer. When you connect the IC recorder to a computer which is not running, the battery will not be charged. Even if the computer is on, and the computer is in a mode of reduced operation (standby or sleep), you cannot charge the battery. "USB Charge" is set to "OFF" in the menu. To charge the battery using your computer, set it to "ON" ( p. 91). Disconnect the IC recorder from your computer and reconnect it. The charging indicator is not displayed or disappears in the middle of charging. A rechargeable battery has not been inserted, or a battery other than a rechargeable battery (alkaline battery, manganese battery, etc.) has been inserted. A rechargeable battery has been inserted with incorrect polarity. The USB connector of the IC recorder is not connected properly. While playing back files using the built-in speaker or listening to the FM radio (ICD-UX522F/UX523F only), you cannot charge the battery. The rechargeable battery has deteriorated. Replace the old rechargeable battery with a new one. " " or " " is flashing instead of the battery indicator. The environmental temperature is out of the range for charging. Charge the battery in an environment with a temperature of 5 °C - 35 °C (41 °F - 95 °F). Operating The IC recorder does not operate correctly. Take out the battery and insert it again. You may have formatted the memory of the IC recorder using the computer. Use the IC recorder formatting function to format the memory ( p. 92). The operation indicator does not light.
