Removing, Installing, and Replacing Components 37 Removing a Memory Module You may need to remove a memory module if you change the memory configuration or replace a bad module. ! Before opening the system unit, save and close all open files, exit all open applications, turn off the power to all attached peripheral devices, shut down the computer, and unplug the power cord. 1 Remove the system cover (see "Removing the System Cover" on page 24). 2 Locate the memory module you wish to remove. DIMM 1 DIMM 2 (empty) ✍ If the memory module you wish to remove is DIMM #2, skip steps 3 to 5. Otherwise, continue using the next step. 3 Push out the latches on each side of the memory module to eject the module from its socket.

Removing a Memory Module
You may need to remove a memory module if you change the memory
configuration or replace a bad module.

Remove the system cover (see
“Removing the System Cover” on page 24
).

Locate the memory module you wish to remove.

Push out the latches on each side of the memory module to eject the module
from its socket.

Before opening the system unit, save and close all open files, exit all open
applications, turn off the power to all attached peripheral devices, shut
down the computer, and unplug the power cord.
If the memory module you wish to remove is DIMM #2, skip steps 3 to 5. Otherwise,
continue using the next step.
