English Cleaning the Air Filter N Loosen filter cover mounting screws. N Remove the filter cover. N Clean away loose dirt from around the filter (5) and inside the filter cover. N Knock the filter (5) out on the palm of your hand or blow it clear with compressed air from the inside outwards. In case of stubborn dirt or sticky filter fabric: N Wash the filter in a clean, nonflammable solution (e.g. warm soapy water) and then dry. Always replace a damaged filter. Electric Handle Heating Spark Plug Depending on the version, the power tool may be equipped with a handle heating system. 1 N Switch on handle heating by moving the switch (1) on the left handle to Z. Switch off the heating if the handle temperature feels too high. N Move the switch (1) to 0 There is no risk of overheating during long periods of operation. The heating system is maintenance-free. Contact your dealer if you have any problems. STIHL recommends a STIHL servicing dealer. 2709BA020 KN 9926BA020 KN If there is a loss of engine power, the machine is difficult to start or runs poorly at idle, first check the spark plug. Install a new spark plug after approximately 100 operating hours or earlier if the electrodes are eroded/corroded. The wrong fuel mix (too much engine oil in the gasoline), a dirty air filter and unfavorable running conditions (mostly at part throttle etc.) affect the condition of the spark plug. These factors cause deposits to form on the insulator nose, which may degrade performance. Cleaning the Air Filter

Loosen filter cover mounting
screws.

Remove the filter cover.
N
Clean away loose dirt from around
the filter (5) and inside the filter
cover.
N
Knock the filter (5) out on the palm
of your hand or blow it clear with
compressed air from the inside
outwards.
In case of stubborn dirt or sticky filter
fabric:

Wash the filter in a clean, non-
flammable solution (e.g. warm
soapy water) and then dry.
Always replace a damaged filter.
Depending on the version, the power
tool may be equipped with a handle
heating system.

Switch on handle heating by moving
the switch

Switch off the heating if the handle
