English Air Filter System Cleaning the Air Filter The air filter system can be adapted to suit different operating conditions by installing different filters. Changing a filter is accomplished quickly and simply. The saw comes standard with either a fabric filter or a fleece filter. Dirty air filters reduce engine power, increase fuel consumption and make starting more difficult. Fabric filter For extremely cold operating conditions (e.g. in powder or drifting snow or frost). 2 3 1 N Move the Master Control lever (1) to F. N Open the twist lock (2) in the direction of the arrow. N Remove the filter cover (3). N Clean away loose dirt from around the filter. N Remove the filter. N Knock out the filter or blow it clear with compressed air from the inside outwards. N Always replace damaged filters. If filter is caked with dirt: N Wash the filter with STIHL universal cleaner or in a clean, nonflammable solution (e.g. warm soapy water) and then dry. N Place the filter (4) in position. For normal operating conditions and dry
work areas.
Fabric filter
For extremely cold operating conditions

If there is a noticeable loss of engine

Move the Master Control lever
(1) to
F

Open the twist lock (2) in the
direction of the arrow.

Remove the filter cover (3).
N
Clean away loose dirt from around
the filter.
N
Remove the filter.
N
Knock out the filter or blow it clear
with compressed air from the inside
outwards.

Always replace damaged filters.
If filter is caked with dirt:

Wash the filter with STIHL universal
cleaner or in a clean, non-
flammable solution (e.g. warm
soapy water) and then dry.
NOTICE
Do not use a brush to clean the fleece
filter.

Place the filter (4) in position.

Fit the filter cover.
