7.1 STP Config The STP Config function, for global configuration of spanning trees on the switch, can be implemented on STP Config and STP Summary pages. 7.1.1 STP Config Before configuring spanning trees, you should make clear the roles each switch plays in each spanning tree instance. Only one switch can be the root bridge in each spanning tree instance. On this page you can globally configure the spanning tree function and related parameters. Choose the menu Spanning Tree→STP Config→STP Config to load the following page. Figure 7-4 STP Config The following entries are displayed on this screen: Global Config STP: Version: Select Enable/Disable STP function globally on the switch. Select the desired STP version on the switch. STP: Spanning Tree Protocol. RSTP: Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol. MSTP: Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol. Parameters Config CIST Priority: Hello Time: Enter a value from 0 to 61440 to specify the priority of the switch for comparison in the CIST. CIST priority is an important criterion on determining the root bridge. In the same condition, the switch with the highest priority will be chosen as the root bridge. The lower value has the higher priority. The default value is 32768 and should be exact divisor of 4096. Enter a value from 1 to 10 in seconds to specify the interval to send BPDU packets. It is used to test the links. 2*(Hello Time + 1) ≤ Max Age. The default value is 2 seconds. 83
