16 Getting Started with VMware Fusion To quit a virtual machine Select a method to quit the virtual machine.  Select Virtual Machine > Suspend to save the current state of your virtual machine, including all running applications, so you can return to this state without restarting the operating system in your virtual machine.  Select Virtual Machine > Shut Down to completely shut down the operating system and the virtual machine.
