Connecting to a Computer Transferring Performance Data to and from a Computer By connecting the instrument to a computer, the instrument's performance data can be used on the computer, and performance data from the computer can be played on the instrument. MIDI settings These settings pertain to performance data transmission and reception. Item Local External Clock Keyboard Out Style Out Range/ Settings Description ON/OFF Local control determines whether or not notes played on the instrument are sounded by its internal tone generator system: the internal tone generator is active when local control is on, and inactive when local control is off. ON/OFF These settings determine whether the instrument is synchronized to its own internal clock (OFF), or to a clock signal from an external device (ON). These settings determine whether keyON/OFF board performance data of the instrument is transmitted (ON) or not (OFF). These settings determine whether Style ON/OFF data is transmitted (ON) or not (OFF) during Style playback. Song Out These settings determine whether User ON/OFF Song is transmitted (ON) or not (OFF) during Song playback. If you can't get any sound out of the instrument, this most likely may be caused by Local Control being set to off. If External Clock is ON and no clock signal is being received from an external device, the song, style, and metronome functions will not start. 1 Press the [FUNCTION] button. PC Mode A number of MIDI settings need to be made when you want to transfer performance data between the computer and the instrument. The PC Mode item can conveniently make multiple settings for you in one operation. Three settings are available: PC1, PC2, and OFF. This setting is not necessary when transferring song or backup files between the computer and the instrument. * Set the PC mode to PC2 when using Digital Music Notebook. Transferring Performance Data to and from a Computer
By connecting the instrument to a computer, the instrument’s performance data can be used on the computer, and
performance data from the computer can be played on the instrument.
MIDI settings
These settings pertain to performance data transmis-
sion and reception.
If you can’t get any sound out of the instrument, this
most likely may be caused by Local Control being set
to off.
If External Clock is ON and no clock signal is being
received from an external device, the song, style, and
metronome functions will not start.
