Practical hints Unlocking/locking in an emergency Unlocking the trunk A minimum height clearance of 5.41 ft (1.65 m) is required to open the trunk lid. The lock is located next to the recessed handle. Insert the mechanical key into the trunk lid lock. Turn the mechanical key counterclockwise to position 1 and hold it in this position. Pull the trunk lid handle 2 and lift the trunk lid. Locking the vehicle If you are unable to lock the vehicle with the SmartKey, lock it with the mechanical key as follows: Close the passenger door and the trunk lid. Press the central locking switch in the cockpit ( page 106). Check to see whether the locking knob on the passenger door is down. If necessary push it down manually. Lock the driver's door with the mechanical key. 1 Unlocking in an emergency 2 Handle Lock the trunk lid if necessary with the mechanical key ( page 104). ! Always make sure there is sufficient overhead clearance. 344
