Note: In order to replace a failed drive in a degraded unit, a hot spare drives must have the same or larger storage capacity than the failed drive. Enabling Auto-Carving for Units Larger Than 2 TB If the capacity of your unit exceeds 2TB and you are using one of the following operating systems, you will need to enable autocarving in order to make use of the full capacity: „ Windows 2000 „ Windows XP „ Linux 2.4 „ FreeBSD 4.x You must turn on the 2TB Auto-Carving policy before creating the unit. Units created with this policy turned off will not be affected. If the policy is turned off later, units that have been carved into volumes will retain their individual volumes; existing data is not affected. Enabling Auto-Carving for Units Larger Than 2 TB
If the capacity of your unit exceeds 2TB and you are using one of
the following operating systems, you will need to enable auto-
carving in order to make use of the full capacity:
Windows 2000
Windows XP
Linux 2.4
FreeBSD 4.x
You must turn on the 2TB Auto-Carving policy before creating the
unit. Units created with this policy turned off will not be affected. If
the policy is turned off later, units that have been carved into
volumes will retain their individual volumes; existing data is not
affected.
To enable auto-carving

At the main 3BM screen, tab to
Policy
and press
Enter
.
