The recommended maximum amount of memory you can install in your iBook G4 is 1.256 GB, using one 1 GB DIMM in the memory slot. To install an AirPort Extreme Card or additional memory, you must first remove the battery and keyboard. Follow the steps in the next section, then proceed to "Installing an AirPort Extreme Card" on page 54 or "Installing Additional Memory" on page 55. Shut down your computer. Disconnect the power adapter, phone cord, and any other
cables connected to the computer to prevent damaging the computer. Turn the
computer over and remove the battery by giving the latch a quarter turn.
Warning:
The internal components of your iBook G4 may be hot. If you have been
using your iBook G4, wait 30 minutes after shutting down to let the internal
components cool before continuing.
