Other remote controlkeys Special keys on the remote control select the speaker mode (2, 3, or 5 speakers), and adjust the surround (rear) volume and the center speaker volume. SPEAKER MODE - Selects SURROUND 0 -speaker), STEREO+CENTER (3-speaker), or STEREO (A A) (2-speaker) ma-J. • When you press SAT, VCR, or VIDEO, the system automatically selects SURROUND mode. • For other sound sources (AUDIO), the system selects STEREO mode. • Each time you change to another sound source, the system selects the factory-set speaker mode for that source (SURROUND for video sources, STEREO for audio sources). • While the system is playing, you can change to any other speaker mode (SURROUND, STEREO+CENTER, STEREO). SURROUND VOLUME + - - In SURROUND mode, raises or lowers the volume of the surround speakers. In STEREO+CENTER mode, raises or lowers the volume of the center speaker. • Each time you select SURROUND mode, the surround and center speaker volumes return to the last settings used. Each time you select STEREO+CENTER mode, the center speaker volume returns to the last setting used. • To return to the factory-set SURROUND or STEREO+CENTER volume, hold the SURROUND or STEREO+CENTER key for 10 seconds. • While in STEREO (2-speaker) mode, pressing SURROUND VOLUME + selects SURROUND (5-speaker) mode. Source select scrolls through the sources in the sequence OFF, SAT, VCR, VIDEO 1, VIDEO 2, AUDIO 1, AUDIO 2, OFF. After scrolling through the input sequence to OFF, the speakers are off but the SAT audio and video source is selected. _MOSE Using your satellite system remote control • Use the designated button on your satellite system remote to turn on the Companion system. • On an RCA DSS remote, use the TV button. (Do not use the ALT button.) • On an optional PRIMESTAR remote for Companion, use the BOSE button. • To select sources, use buttons 1 through 6 on the satellite remote (Figure 16): 1=SAT, 2=VIDEO 1, 3=VIDEO 2, 4=VCR, 5=AUDIO 1, 6=AUDIO 2. • To select speaker modes, use buttons 7 through 9 on the satellite remote (Figure 16): 7=STEREO, 8=STEREO+CENTER, 9=SURROUND. • Use the designated buttons to adjust surround or center channel volume. • On an RCA DSS remote, use the channel a. or p keys. • On a PRIMESTAR remote for Companion, use the menu cursor P or p keys.
