DISPLAY MODE Functions requiring a special display The bold, underlining, and super/subscript functions work in the same way as in printing mode, but have a special display. The following table shows how these functions are displayed. Function Underlined character Bold character Superscript Subscript Permanent hyphen Ghost hyphen (hyphen typed in the hot zone) Permanent space Display The character flashes, showing alternately the normal character and the underlining. Example: Page = Page and _ __ _ The character flashes, showing alternately the normal character and an upper line. Example: Page = Page and --- - The character in superscript alternates with the symbol M. The shape of the cursor change from 0 to O. Example: mc2 = mc2 and me * The character in subscript is alternately displayed with the symbol (t). The shape of the cursor changes from U to O. Example: H2O = H2O and MO Displayed with the symbol (i-!). Displayed as three dots (...). Displayed with the symbol (...). 32
