Manually Setting the Shutter Speed and Aperture You can manually set the shutter speed and aperture to achieve a particular effect. This is convenient for shooting fireworks and other images for which it is difficult to set the correct exposure automatically. In addition, the shooting time is shorter in comparison with the other modes because the AE function is not operating. 1 Turn the mode dial to . • The shutter speed and aperture setting will show in the display panel. They will also appear on the LCD monitor if it is on. 2 Press the or arrow on the omni selector to select a shutter speed. 3 Press the or arrow on the omni selector to select an aperture setting. 4 Press the shutter button halfway to set the focus. 5 Press the shutter button all the way to shoot the image. • The exposure compensation, flash exposure compensation and AEB mode settings cannot be adjusted in this mode. • Shutter speeds between 1/640 and 1/1000 second can be selected when the aperture is set to F8.0. 62 Shooting - Selecting Particular Effects
