Guidelines for Connecting the Printer You can connect the printer to your Macintosh in one of two ways: Cl Use the built-in serial interface to directly connect the printer to a single Macintosh. 0 Install the optional LocalTalk or Ethernet interface card and connect the printer to an AppleTalk or EtherTalk network. The installation procedure differs, depending on whether you are using the serial interface or one of the optional network interfaces. If you are using the printer's built-in serial interface to connect it to a single Macintosh, do the following: 1. Set up the printer as described in "Setting Up the Printer," below. 2. Obtain a standard Apple System/Peripheral-8 cable and connect the printer to your Macintosh. See "Connecting the Printer to Your Macintosh" on page l-16 for instructions. 3. Install the printer driver as described in Chapter 2. 4. Use the Chooser to select the printer. You cannot send a print job to the printer unless it is selected in the Chooser. Guidelines for Connecting the Printer
You can connect the printer to your Macintosh in one of two
ways:

Use the built-in serial interface to directly connect the
printer to a single Macintosh.

The installation procedure differs, depending on whether you
