Modem module NOTE: All modem module spare part kits include a modem module cable. Description For use in all countries and regions except Australia, Brazil, and New Zealand For use only in Australia and New Zealand Spare part number 443899-001 443899-011 Before removing the modem module, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 38). 5. Remove the following components: a. Hard drive compartment cover (see Hard drive on page 40) b. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 49) c. Rear plastic bezel (see Rear plastic bezel on page 51) d. Top cover (see Top cover on page 53) e. Display assembly (see Display assembly on page 61) f. System board (see System board on page 64) Remove the modem module: 1. Turn the system board upside down, with the front toward you. 2. Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screws (1) that secure the modem module to the system board. 3. Lift the modem module (2) straight up to disconnect it from the system board. 70 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures

Before removing the modem module, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see

).
5.
Remove the following components:
a.
Hard drive compartment cover (see

)
b.
Keyboard (see

)
c.
Rear plastic bezel (see

d.

e.

Remove the modem module:
1.
Turn the system board upside down, with the front toward you.
2.
Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screws
(1)
that secure the modem module to the system board.
3.
Lift the modem module
(2)
straight up to disconnect it from the system board.
