USB board Description Spare part number USB board (does not include cable) 640441-001 NOTE: The USB board cable is not included in the USB board spare part kit. The USB board cable is included in the Cable Kit, spare part number 640422-001. Before removing the USB board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 50), and then remove the following components: ● Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 51) ● Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 54) ● Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 61) ● Top cover (see Top cover on page 65) Remove the USB board and cable: 1. Release the ZIF connector to which the USB board cable is connected, and then disconnect the USB board cable (1) from the system board. 2. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screw (2) that secures the USB board to the base enclosure. 3. Remove the USB board (3) and cable. Component replacement procedures 75

NOTE:
The USB board cable is not included in the USB board spare part kit. The USB board cable
is included in the Cable Kit, spare part number 640422-001.

Before removing the USB board, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see

on page
50
), and then remove the following components:

Remove the USB board and cable:
1.
Release the ZIF connector to which the USB board cable is connected, and then disconnect the
USB board cable
(1)
from the system board.
2.
Remove the Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screw
(2)
that secures the USB board to the base enclosure.
3.
Remove the USB board
(3)
and cable.
