Operating and Managing Products and Parts Setting Product Beaconing On or Off Choose Operations from the navigation panel. The Switch or Director tab displays, depending on the type of product. Choose the Beacon tab; the Beacon tab view displays (Figure 34). Using this view, you can enable or disable beaconing on the product. The current state of beaconing for the unit, which is either on or off, is displayed by a flashing LED. Beaconing is useful in helping to isolate problems and locate the product, especially when there are multiple HP high availability fabric directors and switches stacked together, such as in a rack-mount cabinet. You can change the beaconing state from on or off by choosing Activate. For example, if the page displays Unit beaconing is Off, choosing Activate will turn beaconing on. Using this view, you can enable or disable beaconing on the product. The current
state of beaconing for the unit, which is either on or off, is displayed by a flashing

switches stacked together, such as in a rack-mount cabinet.
You can change the beaconing state from on or off by choosing
Activate
. For
example, if the page displays
Unit beaconing is Off
, choosing

will turn
beaconing on. After you refresh the web browser, by choosing the
Beacon
tab, the
page will then display
Unit Beaconing is On
.
