BASIC OPERATION 3 ■■ Monitor function The Monitor function is used to listen to weak signals without changing the squelch setting. 1 While holding down [SQL], you can hear weak signals on 2 the frequency. 3 TIP: You can set the Monitor Hold function on the MENU screen. The transceiver opens or closes the squelch 4 each time you push [SQL]. The first segment ([MENU] > SET > Function > Monitor) blinks. 5 6 ■■ Setting a squelch level 7 Noise squelch enables the audio to be heard only while receiving a signal that is stronger than the set level. A 8 higher level blocks weak signals, which enables you to receive only stronger signals. A lower level enables you to 9 hear weak signals. LL Throughout this document, "Noise squelch" is simply called 10 "Squelch." 11 While holding down [SQL], rotate [DIAL] to select the squelch level.
