Remove the retainer bracket from the drive being replaced and install it on a, drive cage.

1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer. 2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 16. 3. Disconnect the signal and power cables from the rear of the optical drive. 4. Press the blue release button and remove the optical drive out of the front of the computer. Note: There is a spare retainer bracket 1 attached to the side of the upper drive cage. Figure 24. Removing the optical drive 5. Slide the new optical drive into the bay from the front until it snaps into position. 7. Connect the signal and power cables to the drive. 8. Press the blue release button and remove the optical drive out of the front of

Note:
There is a spare retainer bracket

attached to the side of the upper
drive cage.
5.
Remove the retainer bracket from the drive being replaced and install it on a
new drive.
6.
Slide the new optical drive into the bay from the front until it snaps into
position.
7.
Connect the signal and power cables to the drive.
8.
Go to “Completing the parts replacement” on page 45.
